General information only
The guides, articles and answers on this Site are general information for homeowners and businesses in Cleveland County. They are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a qualified technician.
Independent service partners
Lawndale Roofing answers the phone and sends the job to a separate, independent roofing company in the area. That company does the tear-off, the decking and the nailing with its own technicians, and it is the firm that must carry whatever North Carolina requires for the job. North Carolina issues no roofing license of its own. Once a job's cost reaches the threshold set in state law, the work has to be done by a general contractor licensed through the state Licensing Board for General Contractors, and local permits apply either way. Keeping that license current, and its own insurance in force, is the company's obligation, not ours.
Ask for the company's license number on the call, or when it rings to book a look at the roof. It is given to you on request, by phone, and you can ask to see the paperwork before you agree to anything. The number is not published on this site because it is the company's own private business information. Check it with the Licensing Board yourself. Whether a re-roof needs a county permit depends on the address and the scope, so ask the county building office too. Call (833) 751-2102 at any hour.

Prices are estimates
Price ranges are typical estimates for our service area in 2026. They are not quotes or offers. Your price is confirmed in person before any work starts.
Safety on and around a roof
Do not go up to look. Falls are the leading cause of death in construction work, and roofs, ladders and roof openings account for most of them. A roof that looks sound from the ground can have broken sheathing, rotten decking or a hidden soft spot that gives way under one footstep, and storm damage makes that more likely, not less.
Never walk a roof that is wet, frosted, mossy, or shedding loose granules: asphalt shingles are slick long before they look it, and a shallow pitch is no protection. Never go up after a storm while there is still wind, lightning, standing water or a downed power line anywhere near the house. Snow and ice make the same roof several times worse, and pulling at an ice dam from a ladder brings the ice down on the person pulling it. Keep well clear of the eaves in freezing weather for the same reason.
You can tell us a great deal without leaving the ground: look at the roof with binoculars, photograph what you can see from an upstairs window, and check the ceilings and the attic from inside. Let someone with fall protection and the right ladders do the rest. While work is going on, keep children and pets away from the drip line, keep vehicles out from under the eaves, and treat every nail, offcut and piece of flashing on the ground as sharp. If a ceiling is sagging or wet, stay out of the room under it until someone has looked at it.
Licensing, permits and insurance
North Carolina issues no roofing licence of its own. Work costing more than the threshold set in state law has to be done by a general contractor licensed by the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors; work under that threshold does not need the licence, and local permits apply either way. Nothing on this Site is a claim to hold a licence, certification, approval or manufacturer accreditation. Ask us what we hold before work starts, and check it with the authority that issues it.
Replacing a roof normally needs a building permit and an inspection, and which office issues it depends on where the property sits; confirm it with your city or county building department. Shingle, membrane and metal manufacturers give their own warranties on their own terms, and most of them depend on the roof being installed, fastened and ventilated to the manufacturer's instructions; nothing on this Site creates, extends or substitutes for one.
On storm and hail work: we can document what we find and meet your adjuster at the property, but we are not public adjusters or insurance agents. We cannot appraise, negotiate or settle a claim for you, and in many states doing that without a licence is prohibited. Nothing on this Site offers to pay, waive, rebate or absorb an insurance deductible. Whether damage is covered is decided by your insurer under your policy, and information here is a summary, not legal, insurance or code advice.
