Lawndale sits on the First Broad River in Cleveland County, in the North Carolina foothills, and it is a town of 570 people. The area around it is smaller towns, mill villages and farm country, joined by county roads more than by city streets. Roofs out here are a mix of older mill houses, farmhouses, brick ranches, manufactured homes, and metal-roofed barns and sheds.
Storms decide much of the work. Warnings for Cleveland County have cited 60 mph gusts with hail, and a tornado in April 2011 hit rural land north of Shelby with winds of about 80 mph. Hurricane Hugo in 1989 brought hurricane-force gusts into the western Piedmont and foothills, and in 2024 Helene brought trees down on homes here. Winter brings more ice than snow. Mill-village streets were often built by one company in one short period, so their roofs tend to come due together.

Call any hour and explain what is going on. You get a clear price before any work starts.
Enter your ZIP on the ZIP check page. Rural addresses are judged by location, not by the town name on the mailbox, so the ZIP tells you more than the town does.
Call anyway. Phones are answered 24/7, and the call goes to the nearest available technician. A visit the same day happens only when a technician is free, and no arrival time is promised. You can also reach us through the contact page.
Confirm the jurisdiction first. Inside Shelby city limits, the City of Shelby's building inspections office handles permits. Unincorporated county addresses go to Cleveland County Building Inspections, and other towns have their own office. Whether a re-roof needs a permit depends on the address and the scope, so the office confirms it. The permit guide explains the steps.
No town across the state line is on this list. South Carolina has its own contractor licensing and permit system, and North Carolina rules do not carry over. For work on that side of the line, ask South Carolina's own authorities.
